Silence is Golden

“loose lips, sink ships”

Following on from my obsession with the orient and ninjas, there are a few more things I’d like to share. When I was younger, and still obsessed with ninjas, I’d always play computer games with ninjas in them. I loved creeping, hiding in the shadows, stalking targets and doing missions. It got so bad that I almost started doing that in real life, before someone entered the room I’d quietly hide somewhere, then jump out and scare them. Not a very healthy lifestyle, especially if you start doing that at work. You would need to keep quiet at all times otherwise the baddies would hear and come after you.

I suppose I will never get over ninjas but I won’t become one any time soon. I get criticised by friends at times for not hanging out, going on dinner outings or general get-togethers. I’ve become a social ninja of sorts, that I hardly have time for other people. My question is how do you pursue your dreams if everyone is trying to get you to come out. In our gatherings we always talk about strategies that will propel us to our desired horizons, but when you take steps towards them you get criticised for being unsociable. I believe if you have intelligent, understanding friends you won’t need to make allowances.

One advice a friends gave me, which he claims he doesn’t remember, was that if you have a dream, goal, aspiration etc keep quiet about it. His reasoning was that if you share your wishes with people, they’ll ridicule you and find weaknesses in the idea. This is normally out of malice, jealousy or they are dissatisfied with their own life and don’t want you to be happy. His words have wisdom, if you had the world’s most expensive diamond in your safe, you wouldn’t necessarily tell the whole town, boast at you coffers. No doubt you would be hated, probably robbed, its best to keep quiet.

I’ve had trouble keeping quiet in the past, I always got too excited about and idea, tell the world only to be shot down. But when others have “good ideas” they speak with such reverence for their own mediocrity, it actually makes me sick. Yes, I have known many hypocrites in my times, so before I become one, I do have something to share with you. At present I believe silence is Golden because I would rather show you than tell you. And you will see exactly what I mean when the time comes, on here on this fantastic website.

“Bushido is realized in the presence of death. This means choosing death whenever there is a choice between life and death. There is no other reasoning.”

Yamamoto Tsunetomo

Ever since I can remember I have been in love with the Orient, China & Japan, the culture and history has always left me dazed. I am not much of a historian nor can I dictate certain known philosophies from these amazing civilisations. I can, however, tell you of what I do know and it mainly surrounds the way of the warrior better known as Bushido. Now, there have been many, many western films that have besmirched and ridiculed the majesty and tradition of these cultures.

If you watch most films these days concerned with Japan or China’s history it is an utter mockery. I hate these films, where there is a blundering fool who clearly is of western heritage and no warrior but is the hero, the indiginous people are badly dubbed and are made to look inferior to the western fool. A few films spring to mind but the whole point is the philosophy and etiquette.

I love the Samurai, even more so I love Ninjas, according to the culture and philosophy they are lowly servants. This always confused me, how can something this awesome with so much skill be discarded at a moments notice, the whole point of a Samurai is to die, same goes for a ninja. Tell me, where is the soul in that? Whenever I hear that a Samurai must end his life, Harakiri, out of shame or defeat I could never get my head around that. Seriously speaking, killing yourself like that was an utter waste or as the Japanese would say Muda.

Personally I wouldn’t want a samurai of mine dead after defeat, nor do I think defeat is death. You learn from mistakes, I would take the opportunity of defeat to remove the waste in my life, to become better. If you were unfit and, lets say socially inhibited, felt the need to improve you’d change. You’d hopefully want a better lifestyle, look into exercise and healthy eating. You have all read something similar to what I’m saying before but its all dependant on application.

I’m going to apply the principal of Muda to my website, if I find the need to remove waste in order to improve features then you will see a change. Some things certainly are working but as this website grows it contents will readily be modified. So just keep watching this space and things are bound to improve.

Once more, with feeling

Well friends I am back, this time with some clout. For those who don’t know me you can explore the rest of this site to find out more about me. I used to be a blogger but as time went on I began to tire of the same trivial writing, my heart wasn’t truly into blogging. I find I am more of an entertainer, I want to mesmerise people before sending them on their way. So now, I have my very own website, I must say I am tingling with anticipation. Its my own personal playground that I can discover at leisure. I invite anyone to be my guest, my intention is to entertain your thoughts whilst you stay.

You may ask, If I got bored with blogging then what’s the guarantee of maintaining this website, well you ask a valid question. There is no guarantee, the fallibility of man does not allow for any absolute, but I can promise you something else. At the very least I can promise that during your short stay you will be entertained, if you disagree with entertainment then choose any other word of your choice, I will interest you for a while. You see being my personal website, I can do what I want on it. I say with no trepidation that I am HERE to stay.

I hope I have convinced you of my intentions, I am going to use this platform to propagate my craft, to initialise projects and really harness the crux of my potential. There is so much fun to be had in creating and interacting that I am sure that once you get a taste of the material on offer I will have peaked your interest. I am fully aware of the tasty pitfalls and snares on the world wide web level. Truth be told its the case no matter where you are, there will always be the hecklers, haters and trolls but I can live with that. I want to engage people on a level that has been out of reach, until now.

Consider this post an introduction, not that I need to give one, at some point this website will be firing on all pistons. During its infancy I ask that you have fun and I hope you take away something useful. Be well my friends, the best is yet to come.
